George Hunzinger Table

This pedestal table is an example of George Hunzinger's creative genius.  It is made of black ebonized walnut, tastefully finished with gold gilt.  The circular top glows with the original chocolate brown Vermont marble, ca. 1875.  It is truly gorgeous!  The table measures 32 1/2" height with the marble top, 18" table top diameter, 15 7/8" marble top diameter, and 7/8" marble top thickness.

This table is illustrated in "The Furniture of George Hunzinger" by Barry R. Harwood, figure 84, with the correct top shown in figure 80.  It is quite unusual to find an original top on a table of this period.  Although unmarked, the table shows the essential characteristics of George Hunzinger's furniture, from the ebonized and gilt finish to the innovative designed parts.
